Politician and author Shashi Th♊aroor today posted a small video of him relishing the moments of the swing tradition of Onam- a 10-day long harvest festival that is celebrated in Ke༺rala every year. Today is ‘Thiruvonam’ which is considered to be the most auspicious day of the festival.
“There’s an Onam ಌs൲wing tradition that one normally leaves to young girls. I was persuaded to get into the spirit of things this year,” the Thiruvananthapuram MP tweeted.
Tharoor is dressed in his traditional attire, wearing a red kurta along with a white mudu aﷺs he participates in the swing tradition, also known as ‘Onam Oonjal’, in his 30-second video.
Onam is ಌspread across 10 days; however, the actual festival is widely celebrated for three days from 21st August-23rd August.
Celebrations include a diverse 𝓀range of traditional rituals like the boat race, parades, folk dance performances, floral rangoli making, the grand feast, etc.
