Former Team India captain Sourav Ganguly narrowly escaped severe injuries when his convoy met with an accident in West Bengal's Purba Bardhaman district, police said on Friday. (More Cricket News)

𝓰The accident took place on Thursday, February 20 near Dantanpur on Durgapur Expressway when Ganguly was travelling in a car and a speeding lorry overtook it, they said.

♓As per the West Bengal Police, Ganguly's car had to apply sudden brake due to the sudden movement of the lorry due to which a collision of vehicles occurred.

ꦏ"In the sudden movement of the lorry, the driver of Ganguly's car had to apply a sudden brake which led to a collision with vehicles in his convoy following him," a police officer of West Bengal Police said.

🐬"One vehicle even hit the car in which the former cricketer was travelling. Two vehicles in his convoy sustained minor damages," he said.

ౠThe former cricketer was supposedly traveling to attend a programme organised by Burdwan University, the officer said.

✨"He (Ganguly) attended the programme later on. It went smoothly," the policeman said.

💟Last month, Ganguly's daughter Sana, narrowly missed an injury when her car was hit by a passing bus in Kolkata's Behala area. The accident took place when the bus, travelling from Kolkata to Raichak, rammed into Sana's car near the Behala intersection on Diamond Harbour Road.
