🔯 The Arvind Kejriwal government had earlier opposed its implementation in Delhi, arguing that it would be a step down from the healthcare services already available in the city.

The Delhi cabinet has approved the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana in the national capital. The cabinet, under the newly inaugurated Chief Minister Rekhta Gupta🍎, approved the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana in the national capital.

🃏The decision to implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Delhi was made during Chief Minister Gupta's first cabinet meeting, marking a notable policy shift from the previous AAP government’s stance. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ayushman Bharat offers health insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family annually.

♛Under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership, the previous government had opposed the scheme, arguing it would be a downgrade from Delhi's existing healthcare services. However, with a Rs 5 lakh top-up from the Delhi government, the scheme is now set to be introduced, expanding its benefits to Delhi residents.

𓄧During the cabinet meeting, CM Gupta highlighted two key decisions. First, the approval of Ayushman Bharat, which had previously been blocked by the former administration. She emphasized that the scheme is designed to benefit citizens across the nation and should not have been withheld from Delhiites. With the additional financial support from the state government, eligible beneficiaries will now receive enhanced healthcare coverage.

♛The second major agenda was the tabling of 14 pending reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) in the Delhi Legislative Assembly. CM Gupta noted that these reports had been withheld by the former government despite their importance in ensuring financial transparency. She announced that the reports would be presented in the first session of the Assembly.

🥃The approval of Ayushman Bharat marks a significant shift in Delhi’s healthcare policy. The previous administration had argued that the city’s healthcare infrastructure, including mohalla clinics and free hospital services, already provided sufficient coverage. Now, with the new government’s approval, the scheme will broaden access to quality healthcare, with the additional top-up from the Delhi government enhancing affordability for a larger portion of the population.
