🌌South Korea has seen a series of deadly incidents in recent months, despite recent legislative efforts to address safety issues. In 2022, the country passed a law aimed at penalising company management when workers are killed on the job.
Earlier this month, six people perished in a fire at a hotel construction site in Busan, and in June of 2024, a fire at a lithium battery factory claimed the lives of 23 workers. According to data from South Korea’s labour ministry, 598 industrial workers died in 2023, with the construction sector accounting for nearly half of the fatalities, Reuters reported.
