☂Amid his immigration overhaul, US President Donald Trump has introduced a new initiative. As per Trump, this initiative, known as the Gold Card, would serve as the "premium version" of a green card.
🔯Announcing the initiative from the Oval Office, President Trump has stated that this new gold card can be purchased for five million dollars.
What Is The Purpose Of The Gold Card?
ꦡThis premium green card would replace the EB-5 immigrant investor visa programme. Under this programme, foreign investors are given a US green card if they invest at least $800,000 in projects located in Targeted Employment Areas (TEAs) or USD 1.8 million elsewhere, while also creating at least ten US jobs.
💎Dismissing the system as "inefficient and outdated", POTUS stated that this system would be replaced with the "Trump Gold Card".
🔯The Gold Card programme will focus on direct payments to the United States government. Unlike the EB-5 Visa programme, the Gold Card is not expected to focus on job creation.
ꦜAs per Trump, the Gold Card will help reduce the national deficit. "It could be great, maybe it would be fantastic," said Trump, adding that the US should sell around 10 million of these Gold Cards.
🎀While more details regarding this programme is not available, Trump has stated that more information will be released in the coming two weeks.
🔯Trump also hinted that certain Russian oligarchs would be eligible to purchase the Gold Card.
♉"I know some Russian oligarchs who are very nice people," he said, adding that this programme would pave the road for citizenship for people of "wealth and great talent."
