꧙With two weeks to go for phase one of the Gaza ceasefire, Israel, Hamas and the mediator countries are preparing for the negotiations for the second phase.
✤As per Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu's office, the Israeli delegation is headed to Cairo for the next round of negotiations.
ꦍThis round of negotiations comes after US President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the Israeli PM agreed to Trump's plan to take over Gaza.
What Is Phase 2 Of The Gaza Ceasefire?
♛Based on the plan presented by former US President Joe Biden, phase two of the Gaza ceasefire would last for another six weeks, when agreed upon.
✤As per the plan agreed upon by both Israel and Hamas, the second phase of the truce will work towards calling a permanent end to the hostilities in Gaza.
𝕴In this phase, Israel and Hamas will exchange the remaining hostages and Palestinian prisoners. Additionally, the Israeli forces would withdraw from the Gaza Strip completely as long as Hamas agrees to uphold vow to maintain the ceasefire.
꧒As per the ceasefire plan, the truce will carry out in three phases. The first phase is nearing its end and based on the negotiations in January, the ceasefire must remain in place until the plan for Phase two is finalisied.
🏅Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire on January 19, 2025, bringing a halt to almost 15-months of fighting. During the fighting, Israeli bombardment has killed over 45,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, of which a majority are expected to be women and children.
