Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups could do nothing but laugh after Shaedon Sharpe produced one of the dunks of the season in Wednesday's win over the Washington Wizards. (More Basketball News)
♛Sharpe – who was selected seventh overall by Portland in the 2022 NBA Draft – had an all-round career night as the Blazers claimed a 129-121 win at Capital One Arena.
𒀰The moment of the game saw him swipe out Justin Champagnie's pass to kickstart a Portland attack, then soar above the same player to sink a one-handed dunk.
🎃Sharpe, who finished with a game-high 36 points as well as eight rebounds and five assists – reached a height on the play that left his coach and team-mates in disbelief.
🌺"I just started laughing, like, 'Wow, man. Poor kid up under him,'" Billups said of the slam. "That was pretty incredible."
꧒Reflecting on Sharpe's overall performance, Billups said: "His offense was incredible, I mean, it really was.
✅"On all three levels, he was incredible the entire time. I thought the defense was high-level as well. I really did. His rebounding, he got some really, really big rebounds for us."
♛Portland forward Deni Avdija was left with a sense of jealousy after the play, saying: "I don't know where he got it from.
🧔"I asked him on the bench, 'If I'm going to work as hard as I can, will I be able to jump like you?' I don't know, it's just genes!"
ꦇThe Trail Blazers, now 26-33 after three straight victories, are next in action when they visit the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, the third contest of a seven-game road stretch.
