Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green claimed the NBA was "boring" and had "no substance" to the style of play. (More Sports News)
ꦛThe NBA is overseeing more high-scoring games, with more 3-pointers than ever before, while some claim the physicality from years ago has dropped significantly in recent years.
🍌Green believes the NBA has shifted towards a style that prioritizes speed over tactics, while also arguing that star players no longer receive the same respect from officials.
ꦺThe four-time NBA champion noted there are still exceptions to that trend, pointing to the Warriors' recent match-up against the Los Angeles Lakers, who won that match 120-112 earlier in February.
🐠Green explained how it was "refreshing" to come up against LeBron James, who he says still takes an analytical approach to the game.
🐎"Every possession is some type of chess move," Green said. "You don't get that today in the NBA, often.
ꦯ"You don't just get that on a regular basis. It's just who can run faster, who can hit more 3s, it's no substance. I think it's very boring.
꧟"You want to be one of the teams that aren't playing an accidental game. That's the challenge."
ౠThe NBA is currently on its All-Star break, where history was made as Mac McClung won a third consecutive slam dunk contest.
🌄The 26-year-old pulled off a retro move on Saturday, parking a car under the basket before soaring over it, earning 50 points for that dunk on his way to clinching the title.
ཧMeanwhile, in the 3-point contest, Damian Lillard fell short of claiming his own three-peat, getting knocked out in the first round.
⭕He only managed 16 points, which was not enough to advance. Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro bested the field in that event, becoming the fifth player in franchise history to win it. He defeated Buddy Hield 24-23 in the final to get his hands on the title.
ﷺElsewhere, Green, as part of Team Warriors alongside Moses Moody, lost the Skills Challenge final to Team Cavs (Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley). It followed Team Spurs' (Chris Paul and Victor Wembanyama) disqualification for failing to complete their sequence with three valid shot attempts.
