🅷Delhi's former Chief Minister Atishi today penned a letter to newly appointed Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, expressing concern over the BJP government's failure to deliver on its promised financial aid scheme for women, despite it being a key agenda item for their first cabinet on Thursday.
✅In her letter, Atishi requested a meeting with Rekha Gupta and the AAP Legislature Party on Sunday to discuss implementing a scheme that would provide Delhi women with a monthly stipend of Rs 2,500.
ꦿ"Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi ji, had promised the mothers and sisters of Delhi in a rally organised on January 31, 2025, during the election campaign that after the formation of the BJP government, a scheme of Rs 2,500 per month would be passed for them in the very first cabinet meeting. He (PM Modi) said, This is Modi's guarantee," Atishi's letter reads.
🦋Atishi further said, "The BJP-led Delhi government held its first cabinet meeting on February 20, but surprisingly, the scheme didn't make the cut."
AAP Leader Atishi's Recent Comment
Addressing a press conference on Friday, Atishi said that before the Delhi elections, Modi and BJP ✅national president JP Nadda had assured that the scheme would be approved in the very first cabinet meeting, and every woman in Delhi would receive Rs 2,500 in her bank account by March 8.
"After the BJP's ministers took their oath and held a cabinet meeting at 7 pm on Thursday, no such scheme was passed. If Modi’s guarantee was real, this scheme should have been approved yesterday. But the first decision taken by newly appointed CM Rekha Gupta was to betray that promise. When will this amount be credited to their accounts? Was this just another election gimmick?" Atishi said as quoted by PTI.
💃In the run-up to the Delhi elections, both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vowed to provide monthly financial assistance to women, making it a highly debated topic during the campaign trail.
In the elections held on February 5, the BJP won 48 out of 70 assembly seats, while the AAP got 22 seats and the Congress did not get a single seat.
