On day 3 of the South Africa vs Sri Lanka first Test, the visitors found themselves in deep trouble, with just seven wickets falling, five of which belonged to Sri Lanka. South Africa declared their second innings at 366/5, setting a target of 515. Tristan Stubbs and Temba Bavuma were the stars of the day, both reaching centuries before getting out. In the afternoon session, South Africa’s bowlers, led by Gerald Coetzee, bowled with pace, nip, and carry, putting Sri Lanka on the back foot once again. Day 3 Highlights

On day 3 of the first Test between South Africa and Sri Lanka, South Africa declared their second innings at 366/5, setting Sri Lanka a huge target of 515 runs. Tristan Stubbs ꦺ(122) and Temba Bavuma (113) both scored centuries, with their partnership being the highlight of the day.

﷽Sri Lanka’s reply didn’t go well as South Africa’s bowlers, especially Gerald Coetzee, bowled with pace and aggression. Dimuth Karunaratne and Kamindu Mendis both fell to wide deliveries, and nightwatchman Prabath Jayasuriya didn’t last long either, getting out to a superb catch at short-leg.

What Happened On Day 2

South Africa resumed their innings after a limited play on the opening day due to rain. Sri Lanka bowled out the hosts for 191 runs as Asitha Fernando and Lahiru Kumara shared three wickets each. Marco Jansenဣ took seven wickets in his 6.5 overs to rattle the Sri Lankan team for 42 all out. South Africa batted again and are 132/3 after 40 overs.
