The fast bowler had initially been named in the Proteas' 15-man squad for the tournament, which takes place in Pakistan and th🙈e United Arab Emirates next month.

However, following a scan on Monday, Cricket South Africa confirmed he will not feature in the 🍸eight-team competition.

Nortje has not played for South Africa since last year's T20 World Cup final, in which they were beaten by India in Bridgetown🌠.

Indeed, the 31-year-old missed the entire home international season with 🐼a broken tie, including the series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Nortje will aꦛlso be absent for the remainder of the SA20 franchise tournament, where he was due to play for the Pretoria Capitals.

South Africa w👍ill call up a replacement for the seamer, who has taken 159 wicke꧃ts for his country across three formats.

The Proteas will launch their ICC Cha🃏mpions Trophy campaign against Afghanistan in K🔯arachi on February 21.
