Affectionately called Sat-Chi, the celebrated pair will hope to keep the Indian flags flying high in the national capital. Indian campaigns in the singles events ended with the defeats of PV Sindhu and Kiran ℱGeorge in their respective quarter-final matches on Friday.
Sat-Chi, however, produced a clinical performance to dispatch the South Korean pair of Jin Yong and Kang Min Hyuk in just 41 minutes (21-10, 21-17) yesterday. The win ensured the 2022 champions a third consecutive semi-final appearance, after the China Masters and Malaysia Super 10𓆉00.
"Right from the word go, we were all guns blazing. I think that's what we wanted to do because once they were able to defend," Chirag, 27, said after the match. "If we are a bit slow, then th⛎ey were able to capitalise on the opponent being a bit slow and try to manoeuvre the shuttle around."
Satwik, 24, added that they "were pretty comfortable even though it was close. It was our mistakes we did in the last three points, so there was no tension. We are under control, w𝓰e are telling each other like nothing to worry abou🍸t, just one point at a time."
Against the Malaysians, s🌼eeded third here, the Indian pair will need to take one point at☂ a time. Sze Fei Goh and Nur Izzuddin are yet to drop a game. Continuing their red-hot form, the Asian Championships silver medallists humbled Chinese Taipei's Lee Fang-chih and Lee Fang-jen 21-11, 21-17.
