Popular social media personality and podcaster, Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as ‘BeerBiceps’, has issued an apology after facing severe backlash for a controversial comment made during his appearance on the roast show India’s Got Latent

In a video posted on his social media, Allahbadia admitted that his remarks were inappropriate and regrettable, stating that “comedy is not my forte” and d𒅌escribing the entire episode as a “lapse in judgment.”

❀The statement, made during a segment of the show hosted by Samay Raina, involved a highly distasteful question to a cont🦹estant. Many viewers perceived it as vulgar and disrespectful, and it quickly went viral, sparking widespread outrage on social media.

“My comment was not just inappropriate, it wasn't even funny. Comedy is not my forte. Just here to say sorry,” Allahbadia said in his video statement. He emphasised that his platform is widely watched by people of all ages, and ꦗhe does not take that responsibility lightly.

“Family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect. Need to use this platform better and that's been my learning from this whole experience. I promise to just get better. Have asked the makers of the video to remove the insensitive sections from the ꦅvideo and all I can say in the end is sorry. I hope you can forgive me as a human being,” he further said.

Two Mumbai-based lawyers, Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra, have filed a police complaint against Allahbadia, Samay Rai꧟na, and other participants of the show, accusing them of making objectionable remarks that disrespected women and spread vulgar thoughts to young viewers. The complaint demands the show's cancellation and an FIR against those involved.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also condemned Allahabadia’s comments, although he acknowledged he had not seen the video. “I have been informed about this, though I have not watched it yet. I came to know that it was very vulgar and this was wrong. Everyone has freedom of speech but this freedom ends when we✱ encroach upon others’ freedom. Everyone𝓡 has limits, if anyone crosses them, action will be taken,” Fadnavis said.

The comments have sparked a larger debate over the role of p𓃲latforms in regulating content and the boundaries of free speech. Several public figures, including journalist and lyricist Neelesh Misra, have criticised the normalisation of such remarks, calling out the platform for its apparent lack of responsibility in promoting decency. “Decency is not incentivised in India – by platforms or audiences,” Misra said in a post on X, “Creators are stooping lower and lower for audience reach and revenue.”

Congress leader Supriya Shrinate also weighed in, stating that the fact that Allahbadia’s remarks were met with applause by the audience was deeply concerning. “This isn’t creative. It's perverse. And we can't normalize pervꦐerse🌺 behavior as cool,” she said. "The fact that this sick comment met loud applause must worry us all.”

The controversy continues to grow as both legal and public pressure mounts on All𒁃ahbadia and the show’s producers. The incident has raised questions about the responsibilities of digital content creators and their influence on audiences, particularly younger viewers.
