โThis initiative follows the Parliament's approval of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam in September, which seeks to provide one-third reservation for women in both the Lok Sabha and Assemblies.
๐However, the implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam is contingent on a delimitation exercise scheduled for 2029.
โThe upcoming bills specifically target the assemblies of Jammu and Kashmir and Puducherry, where 33% of seats would be reserved for women.
๐บPuducherry, with 30 assembly constituencies, and Jammu and Kashmir, with 114 seats post-delimitation, including 24 designated for areas under Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, will see a transformative shift towards gender inclusivity if the bills are enacted.
