What I did gather from all of this is that George Orwell was right when he said, “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Many political and religious systems could potentially be the metaphorical target in terms of pointing out its flaws, but what I liked about this film was the way the main character managed to redeem herself through sacrifice. Finally, the idea that a child is the message, tells me there’s a constant desire that the administration wants to prove that even in a society of utter chaos, there will always be a glimmer of hope—someone willing to sacrifice it all for a new generation. That said, if you thought the first movie was gruesome, this one takes the cake, I was more than a little shocked by the lengths they went to to tell the story.
