After Machac had defeated Cobolli 6-1, 6-2 in under an hour, Muchova dispatched world number four Paolini 6-2 6-2 to seal Czechia's berth in the last four.
Elsewhere, Gauff and Fritz powered the United States into the semis as they eased past China with comprehensive singles victories. Gauff set the tone for the USA on New Year's Day in Perth, opening the United Cup quarter-final with a g🍬ritty comeback against Zhang Shuai. The 20-year-old erased three early breaks before cruising to a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 triumph.
Fritz then produced a clini💙cal serving display to defeat Zhang Zhizhen 6-4 6-4 to move USA into an unassailable 2-0 lead, dropping just four points behind his serve. Desirae Krawczyk then teamed up wit🏅h debutant Robert Galloway, overcoming Zhang and Sun Fajing 6-3, 6-7 (1-7), 10-3 to make it a 3-0 sweep.
In the semi-final, Gauff will meet Muchova first, followed by🃏 a match between Fritz and Machac. The two sets of players will then combine for the doubles rubber.
