🐓Headed to Charlotte are sharp-shooting rookie Dalton Knecht, veteran Cam Reddish, an unprotected future first-round pick and a 2030 pick swap.
ꦗThis deal comes four days after the Lakers’ shocking acquisition of superstar Luka Dončić from the Dallas Mavericks.
🐎It was no secret that Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka was working the trade market to acquire a big man to replace Anthony Davis, who went to Dallas in the blockbuster. Williams gives the Lakers a starting center who fits the profile of athleticism and verticality that has flourished with Doncic.
꧃Williams is having the best of his three NBA seasons after he was the 15th overall pick in the 2022 draft out of Duke.
🉐The 7-footer has averaged 15.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game while shooting 58.6 percent from the field, but has been hindered by injuries. Williams has managed to play just 84 games in three seasons, mostly due to back problems.
ꦕKnecht has averaged 9.4 points and 3.1 rebounds, mostly in a reserve role, while averaging nearly 21 minutes per game for the Lakers. He ranks fifth in total points and second in total 3-pointers among rookies this season and has a pair of 25-point games, tied for second.
