ꦅIn December 2023, R Vaishali became the third Indian women to win the Grandmaster title.

In 2024, the 23-year-old played a massive part in helping India to a Chess Olympiad 🐎gold and capped off a good year with a bronze at the World Rapid Blitz Championship in New York, United States.

𒉰“I agree with her (Judit). Early in my career, I felt that titles like WIM and WGM can create a false sense of achievement. In the open category, these titles don’t hold much value and can demotivate players from aiming for the GM title. Removing these titles could inspire more women to compete directly for GM titles,” Vaishali was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

There are four titles that are common for both male and female chess 🍬players: Grandmaster (GM), International Master (IM), FIDE Master (FM), Candidate Master (CM).

♕Apart from the four titles, a female chess player can achieve - Woman Grandmaster (WGM), Woman International Master (WIM), Woman FIDE Master (WFM), Woman Candidate Master (WCM).

🔥The 48-year-old has recommended that instead of women’s titles, there should be titles based on the player ratings.
