Ange Postecoglou said Tottenham defended "as well as we have all season" during their 2-0 win over Brentford, saluting an "outstanding effort" by his players. (More Football News)
Spurs claimed their first Premier League win since December 15 🌠- while ending a run of four straight defeats - at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Vi🔴taly Janelt turned Son Heung-min's first-half corner into his own net, while Pape Sarr put the result beyon♉d doubt three minutes from time.
Although Brentford registere๊d 38 crosses to the visitors' nine, Postecoglou's side restri✱cted their opponents to just four shots on target, while Yoane Wissa struck the woodwork early in the second half.
And Postecoglou paid tribute to his players, who re🔯corded only their fifth Premier League clean sheet of the campaign.
"It's always a challenge here, especially at h🦹ome, [Brentford] are 𓆏;hard to beat," he said. "[We] needed a big effort again today. We put that in, they had a lot of set-pieces, and we dealt with them awfully well.
"I 🐠think we defended as well as we have all season, and we still had the quality to hurt them the other way. Outstanding effort by the players.
"I don'꧃t think ༒they had many clear-cut chances. There were a lot of balls in the box, but when you're throwing them in from the touchline, you can't avoid that.
"I thoughওt the lads handled that part of it really well. Great football and crඣedit to the lads."
Archie Gray, whoꦜ became the second-youngest player to 🙈start 10 Premier League games for Spurs at 18 years and 327 days old, hopes they can build momentum after their morale-boosting victory.
&꧅quot;Obviously, it's a massive win," he told Premier League Productions.ღ "We were in a difficult time. We've still got loads of games to prove that we can carry this winning form on, so it's important.
"At🌞 times this season, just for five minutes, we've lost concentration. As ꦉsoon as that goal went in, we knew we can't make the same mistakes. Once we got to half-time, we thought we had to keep disciplined for the second half.
"It was a really good clean sheet, and h꧂opefully, we can keep it going."
Brentford had 20 shots and 2.29 expected goals (xG) against Spurs, both of which are their hဣighest totals in a Premier League game whe🦋re they have failed to score.
Brentford boss Thomas Frank hailed Tottenham's defensive efforts while feeling the Bees were unfortunate to suffer a fifth defeat in six home games acrosꦉs all competitions.
"We did a lot of things right, but we need to ask what we could do more," he said. &q🌺uot;A lot of things didn't drop for 🔯us.
"We created a lot, produced more than 30 crosses, 20 shots, but w😼e didn't create enough big chances, we had a lot of half-chances. It is down to very good defending, maybe the best defending of their box all season.
"Sometimes, one goal 🌠decides it a little bit. They scored from a set-piece. On the flip side, we don't score from any of our🐲 set-pieces. If we'd got in front, it might have been a different game."
