Cricket South Africa (CSA) is gearing up for the third edition of its marquee T20 franchise tournament, SA20, scheduled to kickstart on 9th January 2025. The tournament will feature six teams battling it out in 34 high-octane matches. (More Cricket News)
The participating teams - Durban's Super Giants, Joburg S♒uper Kings, MI Cape Town, Paarl Royals, Pretoria Capitals, and Sunrisers Eastern Cape - w🐓ill compete in a double round-robin format.
Each team will play the other five sides twice, aiming to secure on꧙e of the top four spots in the league standings to qualify for the playoffs.
The playoffs will adopt an exciting format. The top two teams will face off in Qualifier 1, with the winner earning a direct ticket to the grand final. The third and fourth-placed teams will👍 clash in the Eliminator, fighting to stay in contention.
The winner of t🌼he Elim𒅌inator will then meet the loser of Qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2, with the victor sealing the second spot in the final.
The grand finale is slated for February 8 aꦗt the iconic Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
Sunrisers Eastern Cape, the defending champions, will aim to secure a third title after winning the 2024 and inaugural 2023 editions. In the 2024 final at Cape Town's Newlands Cricket Ground, the Sunrisers secured a comman𝐆ding 89-run victory overꦓ Durban's Super Giants.
Their first triumph came in 2023 when they defeated the Pretoria Capitals by four wickets in a nail-biting encounter.
