Champions Trophy 2025 going on in Pakistan is on the radar of terrorists, multiple reports stated on Monday. (Full Coverage | More Cricket News)
⛄According to an India Today report, Pakistan's Intelligence Bureau has flagged a potential threat by Islamic State of Khorasan Province terrorists who are planning to kidnap foreign tourists visiting the country to attend the tournament. The group is reported to be currently conducting surveillance at ports, airports, offices, and residential areas to carry out their activities.
♛The reports of terror threats once again put the spotlight back on the security issues in Pakistan. Foreign countries had stopped visiting Pakistan for cricket tours after a Sri Lankan team bus was ambushed by terrorists in Lahore in 2009. International teams started to travel to Pakistan some time back but they had not hosted an ICC event till now. Former Pakistan players believe the 2009 attack hurt cricket in Pakistan.
💯“Right now, everyone is talking about the Champions Trophy – in schools, houses, markets, offices, everywhere. The events of 2009 feel like a bad dream. We were punished for 10 years. Our cricket went backwards,” Pakistan great Inzamam-ul-Haq told Reuters in the run-up to the ongoing tournament.
൲However, home fans have been treated by some really poor performance by Pakistan who are on the verge of getting eliminated after back-to-back losses against New Zealand and India to begin the tournament.
