💝French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi co-hosted the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit in Paris. The AI Action Summit 2025 in Paris focused on how artificial intelligence can be used for "innovation, and a larger public good in an inclusive, secure and trustworthy manner."
🃏The summit in Paris marks the third such global event. During this conference, countries came together to sign the "Inclusive and Sustainable Artificial Intelligence for People and the Planet."
🐲This joint statement was signed by India and France--the hosting countries--as well as 60 other nations, including China, Brazil, Canada and Australia.
💜This document states that the nations will work together to ensure AI is "open, inclusive, transparent, ethical, safe, secure and trustworthy." Furthermore, the document makes sure that countries will work towards making AI more sustainable.
🍷However, the United States and the United Kingdom, despite being among of the leading powers in the globe, did not sign the statement.

US, UK Back Away From Joint Statement
🐼Despite being signed by 60 countries, the UK and the US backed away from signing the joint statement. As per a spokesperson from the UK government, London has stated that the joint statement had not gone "far enough."
"We agreed with much of the leaders’ declaration and continue to work closely with our international partners. This is reflected in our signing of agreements on sustainability and cybersecurity today at the Paris ꦛAI Action Summit. However, we felt the declaration didn’t provide enough practical clarity on global governance, nor sufficiently address harder questions around national security and the challenge AI poses to it," the spokesperson said.

Switch In Approach To AI
ꦡThe previous AI summits in the US and South Korea focused more on the risks of artificial intelligence, intending to reduce its use.
♐However, with the Paris summit, the focus has shifted to incorporating the use of AI in a sustainable and inclusive manner.
♊Panellists at the summit also focused on AI's ability to accelerate progress in areas of medicine and climate science.
Top AI Companies Attend Summit
♔Along with the plethora of world leaders, top tech companies known for their AI models were also present at the summit in Paris.
As per reports, Sam Altman of OpenAI, Dario Amodei of Anthropic and Demis Hassabis of Google 🔴DeepMind were present at the summit as part of the US delegation.
China's DeepSeek was also the talk of the town.
ဣDeepSeek took the world by storm due to its model trained at a "Fraction of the cost" of American AI models such as ChatGPT.
UN Secretary-General Calls For Sustainability
🦂Speaking at the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit at the Grand Palais, Paris, UN Chief Antonio Guterres called for the use of AI in sustainable energy.
🐲"It is crucial to design AI algorithms and infrastructures that consume less energy and integrate AI into smart grids to optimize power use. From data centres to training models, AI must run on sustainable energy so that it fuels a more sustainable future," he said.
