Rima Das' Village Rockstars 2 will be screened at the Berlinale International Film Festival, reported PTI. It is a sequel to Das' multiple award-winning movie Village Rockstars, which released in 2017. The film will premiere at the 75th edition of Berlinale Inte♓rnat🌳ional Film Festival, which starts from February 13 to 25, 2025.
Village Rockstars 2 will be screened under the Generation 14 Plus🐈 Competitio🦄n category of the prestigious film festival.
For the unversed, Generation 14 Plus is a sidebar section of the festivꦓal dedicated to children and youth films.
Rima Das, in a statement shared she is looking forward to a "wonderful experience" at Berlin. She f⛎urther said, "It’s a beautiful festival with amazing audiences, and I love the winter m▨ist. After seeing the response from prestigious film festivals in Asia, we’re excited to connect with different audiences. It feels like completing a full circle.”
“So far, I’m really happy with the feedback on the film. Many people have told me they find Village Rockstars 2 my mos☂t emotional work yet. We’re heading to Berlin with lots of hope and excitement to explore new possibilities,” she added.
Das had earlier won a Special Mention at Berlinale in Generation 14 Plus category with her film Bulbul Can Sing (2019). The writer-director was also a jury💫 member at Berlinale Film 🅘Festival 2020 in the same category.
The official tagline of Village Rockstars 2 reads: "In a charming village, a teenage girl passionately pursues her musical dream. However, life's harsh realities challenge her innocence. As she faces these trials, she embarks on a journey to redisco🔯ver the profound connection between music and life, seeking a new harmony in the symphony of her dreams".
Village Rockstars 2 was produced by Fly🐷ing River Films and Akanga Film Asia. The Assamese-language film stars Bhanita Das, Basanti Das, Junumoni Boro, Boloram Das, and Manabendra Das am⭕ong others.
Village Rockstars 2 was premiered at the 29th Busan International Film Festival where it was honoured with the prestigious Kim Jiseok Award for Best Film. It was also screened at the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024 in the South As🐠ia Competition.
