Shah Rukh Khan’s latest film, ‘Dunki’, managed to cross the Rs 200 crore mark in India on its second Wednesday. On its day 14 of release, the film collected around Rs 3.30 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The fඣilm had earlier minted Rs 11.50 crores on Sunday and Rs 9 crore on Monday, but saw a major drop of over 50 percent on Wednesday, when it earned Rs 3.85 crores.
Currently, the total domestic collection of the film stands at Rs 203.92 crore. ‘Dunki’ also witnessed an overall 11.83% Hindi occupancy on Wednesday, having receiv💝ed mixed reviews from the audience and critics.
By collecting Rs 409 crore worldwide, ‘Dunki’ has now outperformed Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dilwale’, which minted Rs 394 crores globally. With the latest feat, ‘Dunki’ has become the highest-grossin🅷g film of SRK’s career, and is behind ‘Jawan’, ‘Pathaan’, and ‘Chennai Express’, which earned Rs 1156 crores, Rs 1050 crores, and Rs 424 crores, respectively.
Not to miss, the film also marked the first collaboration between SRK and director Rajkumar Hirani. Apart from SRK, it also stars Boman Irani, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, and Anil Grover in key roles. It clashed with Prabhas starrer ‘Salaar’ at the box-office. Helmed by Prashanth Neel, ‘Salaar’ has been꧅ raking in moolah ever since its release, and has earned more than Rs 650 crores globally.
Coming to Hirani’s recent film, it als🐠o marks his return to filmmaking after a five-year gap. He last directed ‘Sanju’, in 2018. Sanju, starring Ranbir Kapoor, and the film was a box office success, ear💯ning Rs 342.57 crore in India. It had a worldwide total of Rs 588 crore worldwide.
‘Dunki’, after facing tough competition from ‘Salaar’, will no🐼w face fresh competition by ‘Merry Christmas’ starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, on January 12. YRF’s ‘Fighter’ with Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Paduk﷽one is also set to release in theatres on January 25.
