Brighton Vs Southampton: Mitoma's Header Cancelled Out As Downes Equalises In 1-1 Draw
🌜Brighton & Hove Albion climbed to second in the Premier League after a 1-1 home draw against bottom-side Southampton. Kaoru Mitoma’s first-half header, set up by Tariq Lamptey, gave Brighton the lead after sustained pressure, but Flynn Downes equalized in the 59th minute, capitalizing on a rebound after two blocked shots by Adam Armstrong. Southampton’s Cameron Archer saw a potential winner controversially ruled out for offside, keeping Brighton level on 23 points with Manchester City, who face leaders Liverpool on Sunday. Despite the draw, Brighton’s early dominance, including near misses from Mitoma and Georgino Rutter, highlighted their attacking strength. Southampton’s Joe Lumley made his Premier League debut as their third starting goalkeeper of the season.
