Kerala Triple Death Case: Bureaucrat, His Family Members Found Dead In Their Home | Details

൲Additional Commissioner of GST, Manish Vijay, his mother, and sister were found dead at their Kerala home, with police investigating the incident as a possible case of suicide.

𒊎A triple death mystery has unfolded in Kerala, where the bodies of an additional commissioner of central excise and GST, his mother, and his sister were found at their home.

Citing officials, Press Trust of India♒ reported that the police suspect it is a case of death by suicide.

♒The deceased have been identified as Manish Vijay (43), an IRS officer and additional commissioner with Central Excise and Customs in Kochi, his sister Shalini Vijay, and their mother, Shakuntala Agarwal.

🎃The incident came to light when colleagues of Manish Vijay visited his residence, prompted by his unusual absence from work after a four-day leave.

According to police sources, PTI𝐆 reported that Maneesh’s sister Shalini had recently received a court summon directing her to appear before a court in Jharkhand on February 15 in connection with a case investigated by the CBI. She was an accused in the case, which pertains to irregularities in her appointment in the Jharkhand government service.

🍸Manish and Shalini were found hanging, while Shakuntala was discovered dead on her bed, her body draped in a white cloth with flowers sprinkled over it.

Probe Launched

ꦑAccording to the police, preliminary findings suggest that the siblings died by suicide. However, the exact cause of their mother’s death can be ascertained only after the autopsy.

"Manish had purchased flowers on February 14. An entry in Maneesh’s diary dated February 15, instructing that certain documents be handed over to his younger sister, who is currently in Dubai," the officer said, as quoted by PTI.

🌠Police added that their younger sister is expected to arrive in Kochi on Saturday, following which the autopsy will be conducted.

🐎Although investigators are considering all possible scenarios, they have yet to find a conclusive connection between the mysterious deaths and the ongoing case.

🃏"If the mother’s death is found to be natural, the siblings’ suicides could be due to grief. Right now, our focus is to confirm the cause of death through the autopsy,” said an officer.

How The Bodies Were Found

꧙Manish Vijay, an additional commissioner of GST, lived in the Central Excise Staff Quarters at Kakkanadu. When he didn't return to work after a short leave, his colleagues visited his residence on Thursday night, only to be met with a foul smell.

🌄Upon investigation, they discovered one body hanging from the window and immediately alerted the police. The police found another body in a different room upon entering the house.

꧒Police said, "Subsequent searches led to the recovery of another body lying on the bed in another room. The family had been residing in the quarters for the past year and a half but reportedly kept to themselves, maintaining limited interaction with neighbours.
