Retro is Suriya's 44th film and will release in summer 2025.
On the occasion of Christmas, December 25, the makers of Suriya 44 revealed the film title. Suriya's 44th film is titled Retro. Alongside the title announcement, an exciting teaser was also unveiled. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the gangster drama also stars Pooja Hegde. It will🌊 hit th🐭e theatres in summer 2025.
Sharing the link of title teaser of Retro, Suriya wrote, "Merry Christmas Dear All #Retro Summer 2025. Meet you all soon!@karthiksubbaraj @hegdepooja @C_I_N_E_M_A_A @Music_⭕Santhosh @kshreyaas (sic)."
The two-minute, 16-second teaser opens with a scene from temple, where Suriya and Pooja Hegde's characters are seen sitting on the bank of a Varanasi ghat and the aarti playing in the background. Suriya is seen in a black kurta while Pooja looked elegant in a sari. She ties a band around Suriya's wrist, and he looks into her eyes, and says in Tami𝄹l, “I will control my temper. I will stop working with my father. Violence, rowdyism, hooliganism. I’ll leave it all behind from this moment. I’ll try to smile and be happy. The purpose of my life—in your words, my Dhammam—is love. Pure love. That’s it. I’m laying it all out, honestly and directly. Now, tell me—should we get married?”
Pooja kisses him on his forehe🥂ad, smiles, and nods as she agress and holds his hands. In the midst of the scene, we also get glimpses of Surജiya's criminal life.
Retro also stars Jayaram, Joju George, Praka🔴sh Raj, and Nasser in significant roles. Suriya and Jyotika's 2D Entertainment has backed the film.
