Indian cricket team's veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was nominated for the ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the Year award. Ashwin is the only Indian in the 4-member list alongside two Australian starts who won the ICC World Test Championship Final last year. (More Cricket News)
Ashwin had a great 2023 with the ꧅ball in Tests, scalping 41 wickets from 7 Tests. The spinner showed his quality in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 where he plucked 35 wickets in four matches. This nomination is Ashwin's third - he had won the award back in 2016.
However, Ashwin's brilliance did not see him make the cut in the playing XI against Australia in the WTC Final 2023. Apart from the offie, England's Joe Root, Aussie southpaw Usman Khawaja and Travis Head are also part of the nomination list.
