Despite losing Pathum Nissanka in the very first over, Sri Lanka recovered strongly posting 306 runs for the loss of t♕hree wickets at the end of Day 1. Dinesh Chandimal was the star hitting a century to put Sri Lanka on the front-foot on the opening day. At stumps, Kamindu Mendis, continuing his terrific form, was batting past his half-century alongside veteran Angelo Matthews who too had gotten past 70.
