Chasing a target of 185 runs, Malaysia were bowled out for just 40 runs in 19.5 overs. Elsa Hunter was the only batter to get to double digits among the visitors. Sꦐhashini Gimhani was the pick of the Lankan bowlers, producing figures of 3-9 off four overs.
Powered by captain Chamari Athapaththu's unꩵbeaten century (119 not out off 69 balls), Sri Lanka had posted a 184-run total in their 20 overs.
Earlier, Athapatht♈hu won the toss and decided to bat first. Athapaththu said she is very confident in the batting unit. "We don't want too much pressure; we keep it simple."

Winifred D༺uraisingam, the Malaysia captain, said she would have batted first herself. Nur Izzatul Syafiqa will be making her debut.
