Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is likely to start on March 22 with the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) up against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Eden Gardens in the West Bengal capital. ꦬA report in Cricbuzz on Thursday revealed these updates and stated that the final schedule might be out in a day or two.
As per the report runners-up of last edition, SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), will begin their campaign on March 23 in an afternoon game at home against Rajasthan Royals 🥀(RR). The publication also revealed that a total of 12 stadiums will be used throughout the competition.
𒊎Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Mullanpur, Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata and Hyderabad are the home bases of the 10 franchises and will continue to host the majority of matches. At the same time, Guwahati and Dharamsala will host a few games.
The report states that RR will host Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati early in the season. Dharamsala could play host to three of Punjab Kings home matches, the report says.
🧔The play-offs will take place in Hyderabad and Kolkata. Kolkata will host Qualifier 2 and final while the Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will be held in Hyderabad.
♓Earlier, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice president Rajeev Shukla had said that the IPL 2025 will commence from March 23. However, the latest report indicates that the tournament might begin a day earlier than expected.
