The incident happened in the 16th over of the first innings. Middle-order batter Cooper Connolly ♏lofted the second ball over square leg, bowled by Lockie Ferguson, and in the following passage of play Sams and Bancroft converged to take the catch. But they ended up colliding, 𓄧head-on.
The play🅷 was stopped with the Scorchers at 138/4. Sams, 32, showed signs of a concussion and was stretchered off while a bloodied Bancroft, also 32, walked off with some assistan𓂃ce.
The latest report cl𒈔aimed that both p🌸layers were awake and talking. The play, meanwhile, resumed after more than 10 minutes of stoppage with Hugh Weibgen and Ollie Davies coming on as concussion substitutions.
