The pre-wedding events began on December 20, while a formal reception is slated to be held in Hyderabad on December 24. Sindhu and Venkata Datta Sai, a Hyderabad-based businessman whoꦡ is an executive director at Posidex Technologies, had announced their engagement on social media on December 14.

"The two families knew each other but it was only a month ago that everything was finalised. This was the only possible window as her schedule will be hectic fr🃏om January," Sindhu's father PV Ramana was quoted as saying in a PTI report earlier this month.

"So༒ that is the reason the two families decided to have the marriage ceremony on December 22. The reception will be held in Hyderabad on December 24. She will start her training soon after as the next season is going to be important," he added.

The first public picture from the wedding was sﷺhared by Unio🦄n minister of culture and tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Jodhpur MP wrote: "Pleased to have attended the wedding ceremony of our Badminton Champion Olympian PV Sindhu with Venkatta Datta Sai in Udaipur last evening and conveyed my wishes & blessings to the couple for their new life ahead."

Sindhu is regarded as one of India's greatest athletes with five world championship medals, including a gold in 2019, apart from her silver and bronze at the Olympic Games. The champion badminton player won coಌnsecutive Olympic medals at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, and achieved a career-high world ranking of No. 2 in 2017.

She won the Sy🎀ed Modi International last month to end a two-year-long title drouꦉght, and also broke ground recently for her own sports academy in Visakhapatnam.

Venkata Datta Sai is the son of GT Venkateshwar Rao, who is tꦡhe managing director at Posidex Tec♎hnologies and had earlier served with the Indian Revenue Service. Sai's professional journey includes a stint at JSW, where he managed the organisation's Indian Premier League (IPL) team Delhi Capitals.
