The Delhi Police on Wednesday refuted reports which claimed that there has been no sufficent evidence against Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh 🦂in the sexual harassment case.
"Several media channels are running a story that the Delhi Police hasn't found sufficient evidence in the cases registered against the Ex-President of WFI and a final report in the matter is due to be submit༺ted before the concerned Court. It is to clarify that tꦏhis news is "wrong" and the investigation into this sensitive case is under progress with all sensitivity," the Delhi Police clarified.
The wrestlers, who had been protesting at Jantar Mantar since April 23 seeking the arrest of Singh, wereꦆ removed from the site by the Delhi Police on Sunday after they tried to march to the new Parliament building that was inaugurated the same day. They were detained and later let off.
The wrestlers then announced they would immerse their medals in the river in Haridwar as a mark of protest to demand action against Singh. But the wrestlers did not carry out the thr♉eat after farmer leaders sought five days' time from them to resolve the issue.
Last month, the Delhi Police regis🔯tered two FIRs against Singh.
The first FIR pertainsꩲ to allegations levelled by a minor which has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act along with relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code concerning outraging modesty. The second one has been registered over complaints by adults pertaining to outraging modesty.
However no arrest has been made yet.
