🐓Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi walked out of the assembly session on Monday and alleged that the National Anthem has been "insulted". The governor's walkout comes as a reaction to Chief Minister MK Stalin and M Appavu refused to sing the National Anthem after the state anthem ended.
♒As per reports, the governor walked out of the assembly and refused to deliver his customary address, which the assembly speaker then delivered.
ཧTaking to X, Governor Ravi has stated that the “Constitution of Bharat and the National Anthem were once again insulted in the Tamil Nadu Assembly today.”
🔯“Respecting the National Anthem is among the first Fundamental Duty as enshrined in our Constitution. It is sung in all the state legislatures at the beginning and the end of Governor's address,” read the statement issued by Raj Bhavan.
♚The governor has further alleged that the CM Stalin and the assembly speaker “cussedly snubbed” Ravi's request to play the national anthem after Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu was sung in the assembly.
MK Stalin Responds, Calls Walkout 'Childish'
After Governor RN Ravi stormed out of the Tamil Nadu assembly, DMK leader and chief minister MK Stalin 🅰took a swipe at the governor, calling his walkout "childish."
🐎Taking to X, the state CM asked Why Governor Ravi is sticking to his gubernatorial post "when he does not have a heart to discharge his Constitutional duties."
♑"This year, Governor Ravi has left the House by not reading out the address, it is childish," he said in a post on 'X, adding that Ravi has a practice of "violating the democratic norm" of reading out the government's address.
♓This is not the first time the state governor and DMK government have been at loggerheads.
🥂In February 2024, Governor Ravi refused to deliver the customary address as the draft of the speech had “numerous passages with misleading claims far from truth.”
꧅In 2022, RN Ravi refused to read parts of his address which mentioned BR Ambedkar, Periyar, CN Annadurai besides the phrase 'Dravidian Model’.
ꦿSince his appointment as the Tamil Nadu governor, tensions between RN Ravi and the DMK government have emerged into public eye over numerous issues, including the state’s Anti-NEET bill.
