AAP leader Bhagwant Mann was sworn in aཧs the Punjab chief minister on Wednesday.
Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mann in the swearing-in ceremony that took place at Khatkar Kalanꦑ, the ancestral village of legendary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in Punjab's Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar district.
Mann took oath in Punjabi.
Besides newly-elected AAP MಌLAs, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party nati🌱onal convener Arvind Kejriwal, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, and other leaders wearing yellow turbans took part in the ceremony.
Mann, the Chief Minister-designate, had invited the people of the state to attend his oath-ta𒅌king ceremony, saying it’s not he alone, but 3 crore people of Punjab will also take oath with him.
He had also urged men to wear 'basanti' (yeౠllow) colour turbans and women to wear basanti 'dupatta'.
Officials said full-proof security arrangements have been made for the ceremony and several senior officials, including Inspector General and Senior Superintendent Police rank offic𒊎ers, have been deputed for the e🗹vent.
Around 8,000 to💛 10,000 security personnel have been deployed for the ev💙ent, said the officials.
The venue is spread over 50 acres of land with another 50 acres earmarked for parking of vehicles, said th🉐e officialꦡs.
The district administration has announced a sc💦hool holiday on March 16 in view of huge gathering expected for the swearing-in ceremony.
Civil Surgeon Davinder Dhanda said services of health st🧜aff of adjoining 10 districts and nearly 30 ambulances would be deployed to meet any health emergenciꦐes.
Twelve first-a🍰id teams would also be there to provide emergency first-aid, he said.
