A rickshaw driver was ꦺcrushed to death by a speeding SUV in Maharashtra's Mumbai on Mond🎶ay, while another person was injured in the incident, police said.
The deceased has bee🌸n identified as Ganesh Yadav and the person injured in the incident has been identified as Bablu Srivastava.
Police have arrested two individuals - 34-year-old Nikhil Jawale and 33-year-old Shubham Do🌠ngre - who were in the SUV at the time of the accident, according to news agency ANI. Nikhil Jawale was driving the SUV.
The incident took place on Monday while Yadav was sleepi﷽ng on Versova Beach.
A case of culpable homicide has been filed Nikhil Jawale and Shubham Dongre, according to the police. During the probe, the police found the SUV driver was a resident of Nagpur and his friend hailed from ওNavi Mumbai.
The accused were brought before the Andheri court, which placed them in police custody for five day, police said, adding th♔at further investigation is༒ ongoing.
According to an official cited in a news agency PTI report, the accused fled from the spot without providing medical help to the victims. A local resident had noted the n෴umber of the SUV while it was entering the beachside from a narrow lane, the report said.
With this information, the police came to know the car was registered in the name of Satish S in Nagpur, the official said. Withiꦓn three hours of the𝓰 incident, the two SUV occupants were nabbed from Igatpuri in neighbouring Nashik district, the official said.
The ♒police have collected blood samp🎉les of the SUV driver and his friend and sent them for forensic testing to find out if they were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, he said.
