The🧔 Mughal Road, which connects the border districts of Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu with Shopian in south Kashmir🧔, has resumed one-way traffic after being closed for over four months due to heavy snowfall.

Light motor vehicles are allowꦏed to travel from Behramgalla-Buffliaz in Poonch towards Shopian, with traffic being permitted on alternate days from 10 am to 2 pm.

The narrowness of the road at certain points and ongoing maintenance and snow clearance operations mean the roa♔d remains unsuitable for full-time use. The reopening of the road provides relief to the residents of Poonch and Rajouri, who had been demanding it for the past month, with a cab operator expressing hope that it will provide additional earnings opportunities and ensure timely loan instalment payments.

Union Road Transport anဣd Highways M🍌inister Nitin Gadkari has already announced the construction of a Rs 5,000-crore tunnel at Pir Ki Gali to transform Mughal Road into an all-weather road. The delay in the road's reopening was caused by heavy snowfall in Pir Ki Gali and adjacent areas.
