Manipur Governor Issues Ultimatum To Return Looted Weapons In 7 Days

🐠Following the resignation of Manipur CM and BJP leader N Biren Singh, the governor of the state - Ajay Kumar Bhalla - has called on the people of Manipur, especially the youth to return the looted weapons withing seven days.

🌌As per the official notice issued by the Raj Bhavan, the governor has urged people from all communities to surrender all looted and illegally held weapons within seven days, assuring that no action will be taken against those who comply with the order.

🐲"In the greater interest of restoring normalcy, so that people can return to their normal day-to-day activities, all communities in the State must come forward to ensure cessation of hostilities and maintenance of peace and order in society," says the order issued by the Governor.

🐲Governor Bhalla has asked for the looted weapons and illegal arms to be return to the nearest Police Station, Outpost or Security forces camp with the next seven days, starting from Thursday - February 20.

🧜"The Government is committed to ensuring a peaceful resolution of the situation and safeguarding the future of our youth. Let us rebuild our state together with hope and trust for a brighter future. Come forward and choose peace," he adds further.

Two years after the violence and unrest and Manipur began, BJP leader and Chief Minister N Biren Singh stepped down from the top post.

🏅The violence in Manipur began on May 3, 2023, between the non-tribal Meitei community and the tribal Kuki-Zo community. The unrest has resulted in 250 deaths and the internal displacement of around 60,000 people.
