A day after the Indian Air Force heaღvy-lifter C-17 Globemaster was facing technical difficulties on the runway in Leh airport, authorities on Wednesday announced all commercial flights to and from the airport will be operating as per schedule on May 17.
According to re𒅌ports, several passengers were stuck at the airport as flights were delayed or cancelled, while many flights were diverted.
Passengers of airlines including Vistara, IndiGo, SpiceJet and others faced flight disruptions. Vistara updated its customers about the rerouting of their flight from Delhi yesterday morn🎐ing due to the runway closure.
“With the continuous efforts of concerned agencies, it is informed that...[the airport] is now available for operations...Hence, all commercial flights will be operating on 17.05.2023 [Wednesꦕday] as per schedule. Wishing you all a very happy journey,” the airport authorities said in a tweet on Wednesday morning.
The airpඣort in Leh is used for🐼 both military purposes and to operate passenger flights as well.
The C-17 Globemaster is the largest aircraft asset of the Indian Air Force. In April and earlier this month, the IAF’s aircraft was uꦬsed to rescue stranded Indian citizens from war-torn Sudan.
