The National Electronic Toll Collection programme, the flagship initiative of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, has been implemented on a pan-India basis in order to remove bottlenecks and ensure seamless movement of traffic and collection of user fee as per the notified rates, using passive ra𝔉dio frequency identification technology.
The ministry has direcღted to declare all lanes of fee plazas on nationa🅰l highways as 'FASTag lanes' by December 1. The toll plazas on the national highways across the country would be accepting only digital payments through FASTags stickers.
Here Is All You Need To Know About FASTag
1. FASTag can be bought through banks, authorised dꦺealers, FASTag app (available on android and IoS) and Common Services Centres near toll plazas.
The minimum recharge amount for FASTag is Rs100 and maximum Rs1 lakh. Users will get SMS alerts for all their toll transactions at toll plazas. The tag has lifetime validity and is vehicle specific. Two-whe♏elers, autorickshaws and other small vehicles that do not have to pay ꦫtoll presently do not require the FASTag.
2. Vehicle owne🌄rs will need to produce a copy of Vehicle Registration certificate, a passport-size photograph and 🦩ID and address proof to acquire a FASTag.
3. An amount of Rs 100 is taken as a charge for cards. Rs 200 is taken as a refundable deposit, while the remaining amount is retained as balance in t𝐆he card. The gover🃏nment has exempted the Rs 100 charge till November 30.
4. The FASᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚTags come in different prices and ♒colours, depending on the type of vehicle.
5. How to recharge a FASTag?
a) Recharge of bank issued FASTag (i.e. FASTag purchased from a bank)
• Any FASTag issued by bank can be recharged by visiting respective bank web-portal. On submitting user credentials, a wallet associated with FASTag can be recharged via net banking, UPI and debit/credit card.
• FASTag issued by banks can also be recharged via UPI on My FASTag App (available on Android Play Store, iOS version coming soon)
• Customer may also call respective bank’s customer care num🐬ber for assistance/information on recharge
b) Recharge of NHAI FASTag (i.e. bank neutral FASTag)
• The NHAI FASTag which are linked to NHAI prepaid wallet can be recharged via UPI on My FASTag App through net banking, UPI and debit/credit card.
• Those NHAI FASTag which are🌊 linked to a bank account vi𓆏a My FASTag App are automatically topped up once the balance goes down below minimum threshold amount. The amount of auto-top can be chosen by customer by providing standing instruction while linking the tag with bank account.
6) Have forgotten my Tag details. How to ret💎rieve information?
a) For bank issued FASTag (i.e. FASTag purchased from a bank)
A customer may bank’s Toll-free number written on the tag. Customer has to mention his or her user credentials (mobile number against which the tag has been registered, Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) etc.) On successful verification of use credentials, requisite information shall be provided.
