After parting ways over the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) with the BJP, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) haꦦs agai൲n decided to go with the saffron party in the Lok Sabha polls.

BJP general 💙secretary Ram Madhav on Tuesday night announced it officially. He said that they have decided to🐠 come together with a common goal of defeating Congress.

“We have worked together along with Bodoland People’s Party𒆙 (BPF) and defeated Congress in the past. With the same goal we have decided to contest jointly in the Lok Sabha polls,” Madhav told reporters in Guwahati.

AGP presi🅰dent Atul Bora, one of the fierce critics of the BJP after breaking the alliance for failing to convince them to stop the CAB last year, said that it’s to defeat Congress. He, however, stayed away from making any further statement on seat-sharing and other issues.

“We will let you know in next two days,” he said.

Bora along with K🧸eshab Mahanta and Phani Bhushan Choudhury had resigned as ministers from the state Cabinet citing thꦯeir opposition to the CAB.

After the decision to contest the Lok Sabha polls together, the three AGP leaders are likely to get back their po൩rtfolios in the state Cabinet.

BJP has seven Lok Sabha seats out of 14 in the state. With this partnership with AGP and Hagrama Mohilary led BPF, the saffron party is expectin𝄹g to increase their tally.
