The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday announced the assembly by-election schedule on seven seats in in Jharkhand, Tripura, Kerala, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Ut🌠tarakhand.
The by-elections will be held on September 5 and counting of votes will take place on Sept🐠ember 8, accoℱrding to a press release by the ECI. The by-elections have been necessitated by deaths or resignations of MLAs.
The seven seats up for by-elections are:
1. Dumri (Jharkhand)
2. Puthupally (Kerala)
3. Boxanagar (Tripura)
4. Dhanpur (Tripura)
5. Dhupguri (West Bengal)
6. Ghosi (Uttar Pradesh)
7. Bageshwar (Uttarakhand)
Bageshwar ꦺin Uttarakhand and Dhupguri in West Bengal are reserved for scheduled castes (SCs).
The last date for filing nomination is August 17 and the last date of withdrawing candi𒀰dature i🥂s August 21, according to ECI.
The by-elections in five constituencies are necessitated by the deaths of MLAs: Du๊mri: Jagarnath Maht🌸o; Puthupally: Oommen Chandy; Boxanagar: Samsul Haque; Dhupguri: Bishnu Pada Ray; Bageshwar: Chandan Ram Das.
The by-elections at Dhanpur a💛nd Ghosi are necessitated by the resignations of Pratima Bhoumik and Dara Singh Chauhan respectively.
