🌄Dense fog shrouded Delhi and its neighboring regions on Wednesday morning, bringing visibility to near zero in several areas and causing significant disruptions to rail and air transport. The chilling weather conditions are part of an ongoing cold wave gripping northern India.

🧸As per the report, around 200 flights were delayed, and train services were disrupted as dense fog blanketed Delhi-NCR, while Kashmir faces freezing temperatures amid 'Chillai-Kalan.' Punjab, Haryana, and other parts of the country are also witnessing chilly conditions.

Delhi: Dense Fog—Low Visibility; Flights And Trains Delayed

🔯Dense fog and low visibility hampered flight operations at Delhi Airport, leading to delays for flights not equipped with CAT III Instrument Landing Systems. Airport authorities issued repeated advisories urging passengers to confirm flight statuses with their respective airlines. 

🧔"Both take-offs and landings are operational, but fog may disrupt non-CAT III flights. We regret the inconvenience caused," stated the Delhi Airport in notifications. 

On the other side, rail transport was similarly affected, with at least 26 trains running behind schedule due to poor visibility. Indian Railways ꧑confirmed delays on several routes leading to Delhi and neighboring states. Early morning travelers faced difficulties in navigating through the dense fog.

⛦At 6:30 a.m., the temperature in Delhi was recorded at 10°C, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting a further drop to 9°C by the day's minimum. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 19°C, accompanied by a generally overcast sky. Light rain or drizzle is likely to occur later in the evening or night, according to the IMD.

🍸The IMD had forecast dense fog for the morning, with further warnings of evening and nighttime fog. Light precipitation is expected to provide some relief, but the thick fog and cold wave continue to pose challenges for commuters and transport services.

Rajasthan: Cold Wave Continues to Intensify

🍸Parts of Rajasthan are also experiencing chilly winter conditions; dense fog has spread with the fall in temperature. Due to which the visibility has reduced. Today the minimum temperature in Fatehpur was recorded at 5.5°C. 

ꦬThe period of severe cold continues in the nuclear city of Pokhran. Cold winds are blowing at a speed of 10 km per hour. Today the minimum temperature in Fatehpur was recorded at 7°C. 

Punjab And Haryana: Severe Cold and Dense Fog 

ꦺCold weather conditions prevailed in Punjab and Haryana on Wednesday, with Moga being the coldest place with a minimum temperature of 5°C.

💯Among other places in Punjab, Amritsar recorded a low of 6 °C, according to a meteorological department report. The mercury settled at 4.6°C in Pathankot district, 5°C in Bathinda and Faridkot, 5.5°C in Gurdaspur, and 5°C. in Patiala.

‘Chillai Kalan’ Continues To Freeze In Jammu & Kashmir:

🅰In Jammu & Kashmir, the harshest winter period, 'Chillai-Kalan,' continues, with temperatures plummeting across the Kashmir Valley. Pahalgam recorded the minimum temperature at -2°C. 

♋Today's temperature in Srinagar is -2°C. Day's maximum temperature would hover at 7°C, while the minimum temperature is predicted to be -3°C. Other locations in the region, such as Gulmarg (-6°C) and Qazigund (-3°C), are also experiencing extreme cold.
