Soaring Heatwave Leaves 34 Dead In Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia: Report

Thir𒁃ty-four people admitted at a district hospital have died due to severe heat in the la🔜st 24 hours, health officials said on Friday.

The news agency𒁃 PTI said deaths have occurred d💖ue to the severe heatwave in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia.

It said most of the patients were aged above 60.

The report quoting a senior health official said the district is reeling under severe heat and people are getting admitted to t꧃he hospital for treatment.  

"There have been 34 deaths in two days, of which 23 deaths were reported on June 15 and 11 on June 16,"the 💮report quote𓆉d the above official as having said.

The offici🦋al added: "those admitted were suffering from various illnesses, adding that elderly people are not able to tolerate th𓆉e sweltering heat."

The report quoting another official said that fans, coolers and air conditi💦oners have been arranged in the hospital to prevent the risk of heat stroke for patients and staff.

"The number o💞f doctors and paramedical staff has also been increased," the above quoted official said.

The above quoted official has advised people to follow precautions to preveꦅnt heat stroke. 

Ballia along with the entire central and easter🐠n Uttar Pradesh is reeling under sultry weather.

As per Indian Meteorological Data (IMD), the maximum temperature in Ballia was recorded at 4꧅2.2 degrees Celsius on Friday, which is 4.7 degrees above normal.

The mercury has st𝓀ayed above 41 degrees Celsius-mark since last week as the data.
