Pennsylvania Killer Danilo Cavalcante’s Two Week Chase: Timeline

The convicted murderer, Danilo Cavalcante, who escaped from a Pennsylvania prison almost two weeks ago was apprehended on Wednesday morning, according to Pennsylvania State Police, completing a manhunt that drew hundreds of law enforcement personnel to the area and paralyzed the local community.
According to Lt. Col. George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police, who led the search, it was two tactical teams - one from the state police and another from the US Border Patrol - who moved in on Cavalcante Wednesday morning and deployed a police dog that subdued the fugitive before he was taken into custody.
How the escape and the manhunt unfolded
Thursday, August 31
Cavalcante escaped from the jail in a few days, which was partially filmed on camera.
Surveillance video captured him in a tight gap between two walls in an exercise yard, placing his hands and feet on either side and "crab-walking" up and out of sight. He then sprinted across a roof, scaled a fence, and pushed his way through razor wire to escape, according to Howard Holland, the jail's acting warden.
Friday, September 1
Cavalcante's first known sighting after his escape happened the following day, when Ryan Drummond claims to have seen the fugitive inside his home in Pocopson Township, not far from the jail.
Saturday, September 2
Cavalcante was observed early the next morning at 12:30 a.m. on a domestic video camera about 1.5 miles from the jail, according to the district attorney's office on Facebook. Later, Bivens stated that a state policeman also saw Cavalcante in the vicinity.
Monday, September 4
A security camera spotted the fugitive two days later in the evening in Longwood Gardens, a botanical paradise located several miles from Chester County Prison that would soon become the focal point of the search.
The fugitive was caught on camera twice, initially travelling north and then again approximately an hour later walking south. Cavalcante had acquired many items by that point, according to Bivens, including a backpack, a duffel sling bag, and a hooded hoodie.
Tuesday, September 5
Cavalcante was discovered the next night by a resident in a stream bed on the resident's property in Pennsbury Township, a few miles southeast of the jail, according to Bivens. He escaped into the woods before the cops could apprehend him.
Wednesday, September 6
According to Bivens, a trail camera image showed Cavalcante in or near Longwood Gardens, but officials just learned about the sighting Thursday evening.
Friday, September 8
Authorities reported two sightings of Cavalcante within the search area, which included Longwood Gardens.
Saturday, September 9
Authorities claimed Cavalcante escaped their search zone and stole a van approximately three-quarters of a mile distant over the weekend, causing the manhunt to shift dramatically.
Sunday, September 10
The sightings were not reported to state police until around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Bivens said, giving them their first inkling that Cavalcante had escaped and changed his look.
Later that morning, about 10:40 a.m., they discovered the stolen van in a field behind a barn in East Nantmeal Township, slightly west of the sightings the night before. Bivens stated that the vehicle had run out of gas.
Monday, September 11 
Then, according to Bivens, police received another call from a resident on Coventry Road, who said that a small, Hispanic person wearing no shirt had entered his garage while the resident was inside and stolen a.22 caliber rifle. As the man fled, the householder pulled a revolver and fired at him. Cavalcante's hoodie was discovered near the driveway's edge.
Wednesday, September 13
Cavalcante was apprehended by Pennsylvania State Police on Wednesday, bringing the manhunt to a conclusion. Around 8 a.m., tactical teams from the state police and Border Patrol arrived at the location of the heat source.
Cavalcante, who had escaped from the county institution while awaiting transfer to state prison, was transferred to Montgomery County prison to begin serving his murder sentence, according to officials.
