🧔The Delhi Assembly elections results will be declared today. The counting of the votes has begun in 19 counting stations across 11 districts of Delhi.

🍌The elections for the 70 assembly seats were held on February 5 with major parties being the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress.

♋While AAP hopes for a third term, the BJP has eyes for a chance at revival in the national capital after more than 26 years. The Congress won no seats in the last two elections and they are looking to make a place in the assembly this year.

🦂According to the Election Commission data, 60.54 per cent votes were polled on February 5, 2025.

ℱMost exit polls on Wednesday predicted an edge for the BJP over the ruling AAP in the Delhi assembly polls, while the Congress was projected to make no significant gains.

💝On the eve of the poll results, high political drama unfolded outside AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal's residence as a team of Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) reached there, seeking details and evidence regarding his allegations that the BJP attempted to poach the Aam Aadmi Party candidates.

🅘As Kejriwal did not meet ACB officials at his 5, Ferozeshah Road bungalow, they served him a legal notice seeking proof. The move comes soon after Lt Governor VK Saxena ordered an ACB probe into the matter.

What Did Exit Polls Project?

The Election Commission 💛will announce the official results after the counting of on February 8. Exit polls are projections made by election survey agencies based on interviews of voters as they come out after casting their votes. These may vary widely from the actual results.

According to Matrize exit poll, the BJP led NDA may get 35-40 seats, while the AAP is projected to get 32 to 37 seats. The survey gave Congress 0-1 seats.

🎃The People's Pulse exit polls said the NDA was likely to get 51 to 60 seats, while the AAP may get just 10-19 seats. The Congress, it claimed, will not be able to open its account.

𝄹According to People's Insight exit poll, the NDA is likely to get 40 to 44 seats, the AAP 25 to 29 seats, and the Congress 0-1 seat.

ꦫThe P-Marq exit poll predicted 39-49 seats for the BJP and its allies, 21-31 seats for AAP and 0-1 for the Congress.

ꦑThe JVC exit poll said the BJP and allies would get 39-45, the AAP 22-31 seats and the Congress 0-2.

🦄Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva has claimed his party will win nearly 50 seats. The AAP has rejected the exit poll predictions, asserting it will form the government again with its convener Kejriwal becoming chief minister for the fourth time.

Counting Stations Across Delhi & Security Measures

♏Shahdara, Central Delhi, East, South, and Southwest districts will each have one counting station.

💮The North, West, Northeast, and Southeast districts will each have two counting stations,

ওThe New Delhi and Northwest districts will have three counting stations each.

♊Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Alice Vaz told PTI that a total of 5,000 personnel, including counting supervisors, counting assistants, micro-observers, and supporting staff trained for the process, will be deployed on Saturday for the counting of votes.

🌠In view of the fairness of the counting process, a random selection of five VVPATs (voter verifiable paper audit trails) will be done in each assembly constituency.

༺A three-tier security arrangement with 10,000 police personnel, including two paramilitary companies at each centre, has been put in place for the 19 counting centres.

🤡"We have made robust security arrangements (for counting day). Only authorised personnel will be allowed inside the counting centres, where the use of mobile phones will be strictly prohibited," Special Commissioner of Police Devesh Chandra Srivastava told a press conference on securing arrangements for the counting day.

Recent Controversies

🤡In a snowballing controversy, Lt Governor VK Saxena on Friday ordered an anti corruption branch (ACB) probe into allegations by AAP leaders that the BJP had attempted to poach its candidates by offering them Rs 15 crore and ministerial berth, reported PTI.

༒The AAP leaders have accused the BJP of trying to create an illusion in their favour based on exit poll predictions, but trying to poach AAP's candidates with chances of victory.

🀅The BJP has demanded that AAP retract its charges and tender an apology or face legal action. Delhi BJP general secretary Vishnu Mittal also wrote to the Lt Governor requesting for an ACB probe into AAP's charges.

༺Earlier on Friday, Kejriwal held a meeting with all party candidates and asserted that the AAP will form its government, while alleging that the opposition is using exit polls to create "psychological pressure" and attempting to execute "Operation Lotus".

𓆉Speaking to reporters after the meeting, senior AAP leader Gopal Rai said under Kejriwal's guidance, all candidates presented their ground reports, which indicated that AAP is set to win over 50 seats decisively, with a close contest on 7-8 seats.

Top 5 Key Seats In Delhi Polls 2025

New Delhi

The New Delhi constituency, where Arvind Kejriwal 🐈has contested the last three assembly elections, is once again the center of attention. In 2013, Kejriwal won the seat by defeating Congress’ Sheila Dikshit, the then Delhi CM, who had held the seat from 1998 to 2013.

ಌThis year, the contest is set to be a three-way battle with AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal facing BJP’s Parvesh Verma, the son of former CM Sahib Singh Sharma, and Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit, son of ex-CM Sheila Dikshit.

Kalkaji

🦩The Kalkaji seat is gearing up for another significant contest as current Delhi CM Atishi, who assumed office after Kejriwal's resignation in 2024, is running as the AAP candidate. Atishi faces strong competition from BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress' Alka Lamba. Lamba, a former AAP member, switched to Congress, while Bidhuri is a well-known South Delhi figure who has served as an MP for the area twice.

Jangpura

💦This year, AAP has fielded Manish Sisodia for Jangpura, where he faces BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah and Congress' Farhad Suri. The seat was previously held by AAP’s Praveen Kumar in 2015 and 2020, with a victory margin of over 15,000 votes over BJP. The three-way contest is drawing attention, as Sisodia's candidacy could be a risky move due to his imprisonment in the Liquor Policy case.

Malviya Nagar

𓃲In Malviya Nagar, AAP’s Somnath Bharti will contest once again, having won the last three elections with a significant lead, securing over 50% of the vote share in both 2015 and 2020. He faces BJP’s Satish Upadhyay and Congress’ Jitendra Kumar Kochar.

♐Upadhyay is a strong contender, with experience as Chairman of the SDMC Education Committee for two terms and a reputation for working for the people. However, Bharti, favored due to his consecutive wins and activism, also has the added advantage of being appointed Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee and leveraging his legal background.

Greater Kailash

💙Saurabh Bharadwaj, AAP's chief spokesperson, is a key member of the party and seeks his fourth victory in the upcoming election. Known for his work in environmental and urban initiatives, Bharadwaj has earned strong support among voters in the constituency. He faces Congress' Garvit Singhvi and BJP's Shikha Rai in the GK seat.

Will BJP Be Able To Overthrow AAP?

🃏The AAP established its dominance in Delhi's political map routing both the BJP and Congress in 2015 Assembly polls, winning 67 of the 70 Assembly seats.

🃏The party again formed its government in 2020, winning 62 seats and decimating the opposition BJP and Congress.

ജA victory for the AAP will establish Kejriwal's dominance in Delhi and enhance his political stature nationally.

꧟However, if the BJP wins the polls, it will not only be back to power in Delhi after a long gap of over 26 years, but also succeed in breaking the spell of AAP and Kejriwal that it has been vying for a decade.

🧜The Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 years in a row till 2013, is striving to stage a comeback after failing to win a single seat in the previous two elections.
