The OTT platform has quickly emerged as the go-to source for entertainment globally with high-speed internet, the digit꧑al boom, convenience with a simple click of a button and a buffet of versatile content being the key drivers. However, there’s too much to choose✤ from when it comes to OTT, and not all are worthy of your time.
As we start the New Year 2꧟023, here’s taking a look at some of the most anticipated shows on OTT this year:
‘Scam 2003: The Telgi Story’
After dazzling us𒊎 with ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’ and winning a multitude of prizes, the filmmakers will return with a second part in the series called ‘Scam 2003: The Telgi Story’. Based on the novel ‘Telgi Scam: Reporter Ki Journal’ by Sanjay 🧔Singh, it stars Gagan Dev Riar as the lead and is directed by Tushar Hiranandani. While ‘Scam 1992’ broke the internet and made a clean sweep of 12 trophies at the Filmfare OTT Awards 2021, the second instalment of this franchise ‘Scam 2003’ chronicles the life of Abdul Karim Telgi, a fruit-seller born in Khanapur in Karnataka, and his journey to becoming the mastermind behind one of the most ingenious scams in India. Directed by Tushar Hiranandani and with Hansal Mehta as the showrunner, the series much like its predecessor promises to be an intriguing watch.
‘Gandhi’
Based on the books ‘Gandhi Before India’ and ‘Gandhi: The Years That Changed The World’ by renowned historian Ramachandra Guha, this biopic on the life of MK Gandhi has created enough hype around itself. Hansal Mehta directs this biopic starring Pratik Gandhi in the lead. This monumental biopic𒉰 on the life of Mahatma Gandhi has been in the news throughout 2022. The work has started on their most ambitious series that will bring alive the period of Indian Independence through the lens of our greatest freedom fighter, Mahatma Gandhi. Headlined by Pratik Gandhi and directed by Hansal Mehta, the multi-season show will be narrated in an international standard production for global audiences and will be shot extensively in India, London and South Africa.
‘Mirzapur 3’
Soon, we will be able to witness Guddu Bhaiya and Kaleen Bhaiya’s combat. Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, and others from the original star cast of the first two seasons of this show will return for the third instalment. Guddu Bhaiya and Kaleen Bhaiya are going▨ to clash once again in the third season of ‘Mirzapur’ and fans are super excited about the same. The critically-acclaimed series follows the life of an affluent family in present-day India and their interactions with the criminal underworld and fans can’t wait for the third instalment that’s already a subject of heated discussion ever since its announcement.
‘Made In Heaven 2’
Set against the backdr𒉰op of opulent Indian weddings, ‘Made In Heaven 2’ will include further drama in the lives of wedding planners Tara (Sobhita Dhulipala) and Karan (Arjun Mathur), whose professional lives continue to flourish but their personal ones require extensive repair. ‘Made In Heaven 2’ is all set to hit OTT this year and will once again be set against the backdrop of lavish Indian weddings. It will also star Kalki Koechlin and Jim Sarbh among others. Reportedly, this time the story charters into international waters. Apart from a glimpse into the lavish and extravagant weddings of the rich and famous, the series also reveals the real face of the relationships among the rich as well as their inner dilemmas and struggles.
‘Scoop’
Ace director Hansal 🅰Mehta is also set to come out with ‘Scoop’ which is based on the life of crime journalist Jagruti Pathak. The series will be released on Netflix. ‘Scoop’ is created by Mehta and Mrunmayee Lagoo Waikul, known for co-writing ‘Thappad’ and is inspired by Jigna Vora’s biographical book ‘Behind The Bars In Byculla: My Days In Prison’.
