Varun Dhawan starrer Baby Johnΰ΄ received a lukewarm response on Day 2, December 26. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the action drama witnessed 60% drop in its earnings on its first Thursday. On Day 1, the film earned Rs 11.25 crore, and Rs 4.5 crore on Day 2, taking the total collection to Rs 15.75 crore.
Baby Johnπ» had an overall 11.09% Hindi occupancy on Thursday, major earnings came from the night shows with 16.17% occupancy.
Baby John is overshadowed by Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule which is breaking records at the box office. Also Mufasa: The Lion King earned more than Baby John on Thursday. Talking about Pushpa 2, it collected Rs 9.6 crore (Rs 7.25 crore in Hindi) while Mufasa made Rs 7 crore. Surprisingly, Kichcha Sudeep's Kannada film Max which released with Baby Johnβ, is giving tough competition to the latter. It made Rs 12.70 crore in two days.
Given the hype, promotions, big cast and production houses, Varun Dhawan starrer failed to live up to the expectations. The film received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. However, fans lauded Salman Khan's cameo in Baby John.
