'Ghoomer', directed by R Balki was released in theatres on August 18, 2023. The movie has Saiyami Kher who plays the role of a cricketer, and Abhishek Bachchan who essays the role of her coach. It is the story of the cricketer Anina (Saiyami Kher) who loses her right hand in an accident and then trains under the guidance of her coach to get in the Indian cricket team. The film also stars veteran actress Shabana Azmi, who plays Saiyami's grandmother. Angad Bedi plays Anina's boyfriend Jeet who always s🀅up🎀ports her and is with her through thick and thin.
Angad is very happy with the kind of response the movie has been getting from all across the country. In a conversation with Outlook India, he said, ''I am very elated at the fact that people have identified with🔯 the film and are walking out of the theatres with a big smile. I feel it'ꦛs the story of human resilience and it's something which is to be celebrated. The film has its own journey.''
He added,𒅌 ''Usually 😼what happens is that such films can get heavy but this is not that film at all. It is been handled beautifully by R Balki sir and it's extremely different in conversation and as far as the scenes are concerned. If there is an intense scene there is humour infusion. I feel that it is a very modern film and is handled well and projected in the best possible way.''
The 'Lust Stories 2' actor was also all praise for the entire team of 'Ghoomer'. He said, ''Everybody is a force to reckon with whether it is Abhishek's character or Saiyami's who is the central protagonist of the film or Shabana ji. It has been wonderful coming together not just R. Balki sir as a filmmaker who is a stalwart but also the wonderful cast, the sup♌porters and the watchers.''
He especially showered praise on junior Bachchan as he added, ''I feel that Abhishek Bachchan is the best actor oꦰf this generation and I mean it and I don't mince any words saying that because he genuinely is if you look at his filmography. I am not even going to like Yuva or Guru. Differently, if I have to just whether it is Dasvi or The Big Bull or whether it is Ludo for that matter and now Ghoomer, I just feel all his films and characters have been different.''
ಞAngad also said that for him to venture into romance is very hard and now people have accepted him as Jeet. He revealed that he always used to♎ have situations where he had done intense roles and he used to think when he would get to do romantic roles.
Elaborating further as to how he landed his role in 'Ghoomer', Angad shared, ''When Balki sir called me for Ghoomer, I asked me ღthat he has put me in romance, he said I will be very good in it. I asked him if he wanted to audition me and he said no. He said he saw my audition and when I told him I never gave you one, he said he saw Dear Zindagi. He told me that I did really well I would be perfect for Anina's Jeet and should consider this.''
Bedi also feels that sometimes ဣit is not about the length of the role or how many scenes you have. ''Sometimes just one look or just the expression impresses the filmmaker that you never know and then you move forward with that. In that way, I have been pretty lucky. Earlier, people used to know me as a Pink actor, now they know me by my role in Ghoomer. When you come from Shoojit Sircar's school andꦜ move to R Balki's school, your growth just happens. I feel lucky to have both stalwarts very early in my career.''
